Raised in a musical family, Kevin Winard recorded his first album
at age 17 with the Matt Catingub
Big Band. He was just twenty years old when he began
working with The Captain &
Tennille, touring and recording with them for over ten years. In 1991, Kevin traveled the world playing
with Pop icon Paul
Anka. Needless to say, he’s enjoyed success ever
since he picked up a pair of sticks.
Kevin has
performed with such artists as Frank Sinatra Jr., Rosemary Clooney,
Delaney Bramlett, Roger Williams, Carol Burnett, Les Brown, Patty Andrews of The
Andrew Sisters and has toured
extensively with Brazilian great Sergio
Mendes and with renowned trumpeter Doc Severinsen. As
Producer, Winard has worked with many artists including Camilla, Mellonie Irvine, Margie Nelson and Brazilian Singer/Guitarist
Teka.
Since 2005, he has been the drummer for Grammy-award winning
singer Steve Tyrell and has
appeared on numerous TV
shows including The Today Show, The
CBS Early Show and The
Tonight Show. Kevin can be heard
on Steve Tyrell’s “Live At The
Cafe Carlyle” and his upcoming
release “It’s Magic-The Music Of Sammy Cahn”. Other recent
recording projects include Tom Wopat’s “I’ve Got Your Number”, Sasha’s Bloc’s
“Melancholy”, Hiromi Kanda’s “Days Of Yesterday” and Lauren White’s “Meant To
Be” among others.
2013 marked the debut of Winard’s his first solo album
release, singing songs from the Great American Songbook. The CD is aptly named
“Kevin Winard Sings”.
