Vienna Michaelsen is a freelance percussion educator and licensed professional counselor in the Austin/Central Texas area. She received her Bachelors of Music in Music Education from San Jose State University and her MA in Professional Counseling from Amberton University. Pairing her music education background with her private practice as a professional counselor, her students and clients gain life skills that stretch further than music and bring healing through both traditional and music therapies.
Vienna spent more than 10 years arranging and teaching for local middle and high schools throughout the Bay Area in CA. Previous to that, she performed with the Santa Clara Vanguard indoor percussion and cadet corps, as well as the San Jose State University marching band, symphonic band, orchestra, percussion, and wind ensemble.
Vienna believes that lessons learned from drumming translate into much more than just music. She has a passion for helping others discover their identity and teaching students that they are empowered to shift culture, set the atmosphere, and achieve excellence. Her goals are to instill a sense of confidence in her students so they can make a difference in the world by having the courage to become all they’re called to be.
