“Tuópali Dúo” was founded in the year 2000 by two friends Paco Díaz and Charli Llacer .

As a percussion ensemble they want to play the music they like, not only works that are written for a duo. Through innovative ensemble playing and dynamic set-ups they succeed their goal and stand for exciting performances of music, that was often originally intended for far bigger groups.

Based in Spain the duo has been touring and teaching extensively nationally and internationally. They performed concerts in various percussion conventions, festivals, and courses in the Canary Islands, on Mainland Spain, aswell as in Mexico, Cuba, and Argentina.

In 2003 Tuopali Duo appeared as soloists with the Tenerife Synphony Orchestra, won the 1st prize in the Caja Canarias Chamber Ensemble Competition, and the 2nd prize in the “Vai-Moana” Competition. In 2004 their first CD “Mestizaje” was released, a compilation of works written by the percussionist and composer Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic.

The Spanish duo has been teaching and coaching at more than 20 percussion courses in Spain and South America during the last six years.

As of this moment, Paco Diaz is Timpani soloist of the Tenerife Synphony Orchestra, aswell as professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias, Charli Llacer is a member of the percussion section of the Tenerife Synphony Orchestra, aswell as professor at the Academia Tenerife Synphony Orchestra.
