Shane Batchelor grew up in St. Charles, MO and graduated from the University of Missouri in 2015 under the tutelage of Dr. Julia Gaines. After receiving his degree in Instrumental Music Education, Shane continued his education in pursuit of a Master’s degree in Percussion Performance under Dr. Megan Arns. During his time in school, Shane served as a freelance percussion instructor for several schools and WGI groups across Missouri including Blue Springs High School, Grain Valley High School, Freedom Indoor Percussion, and Gateway Indoor Percussion. Shane was also heavily involved in the university’s performing ensembles.
His performance experience is diverse with marching percussion, wind ensembles, orchestras, jazz ensembles, chamber ensembles, entertainment groups, and soloist performances. In St. Louis he has been a member of two WGI ensembles including Intrepid Percussion (2009) and Freedom Indoor Percussion (2010-2012), and he was a member of the Six Flags Drumline (2009) and the Stikyard cast (2012-2014). Shane has earned honors and awards competing as a solo marimbist and most recently placed first at MMPAT in 2016. His most notable performance memberships include the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (2012), the Ruff Drags at PASIC (2014), and the MU Percussion Quartet featuring Casey Cangelosi at Midwest (2015).
Shane currently resides in Springfield, MO where he serves as the Director of Percussion and Assistant Band Director for Willard Public Schools and the percussion arranger for the Missouri State University Marching Band. He is proud to endorse Innovative Percussion.
