Sam Sherman began his drumming adventure at the age of 11 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, diving into music through private lessons and a rich array of school bands—from jazz and concert ensembles to the marching band at Massaponax High School. By 14, he was already gigging locally, cutting his teeth in a pop-punk band, Underachiever, and recording his first album while still in high school. 

Sam graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University  in 2011. From there, he brought his versatile drumming to Carnival Cruise Lines, playing  everything from big band jazz to live band karaoke on the high seas. 

Since 2018, Sam has made Nashville his home base, performing professionally across the U.S. and building a reputation for his dynamic style. A longtime admirer of Innovative Percussion since his college days working the drum counter at Richmond Music Center, Sam has found their feel and quality to be unmatched. In preparation for a regular touring schedule with up and coming pop-punk artist Lyssa Coulter, he’s now proud to join the Innovative Percussion family as an endorsed artist, bringing his lifelong dedication and wide-ranging experience to the brand he loves.
