Rich Bono is currently the percussion coordinator for Krum Independent School District located in Krum, Texas.  Working at both the High School and Middle School, he currently instructs the drum line, front ensemble, percussion ensembles, steel band and provides classroom instruction for grades 6-12.  Along with starting a drumline and front ensemble, his percussion ensembles have performed and received superior ratings at the Texas state solo & ensemble competition.  Rich is also the Founder of the Sticks, Clicks, & Tricks Percussion Ensemble festival which promotes concert percussion ensemble music throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Rich is also an active freelance percussionist in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and recently performed in Sydney, Australia with the West Percussion Ensemble at the Sydney Opera House in June of 2010.  He is currently a member of the Texas Stars Brass Band, Lone Star Wind Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble, and is a founding member of the HBC Percussion Group which specializes in performing and educating students about percussion and percussion ensemble literature.

Rich has performed at several international conventions including PASIC, CBDNA, TMEA, PMEA, and WASBE with the University of North Texas Wind Symphony and Percussion Ensemble along with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Percussion Ensemble.  He has collaborated with international marimbist Hiromi Kamiya to give duet marimba recitals at the University of North Texas and Texas A&M Commerce along with a benefit performance in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. 

Recent recording projects have included the Keystone Wind Ensemble recordings of the music of Jack Stamp released in 2012 and the University of North Texas recordings for the Teaching Music Through Band Performance series published by GIA and released in 2011.  He can also be heard as the timpani soloist on Karel Husa’s Concerto for Wind Ensemble on the cd entitled Genesis released by the University of North Texas. 

Prior positions have included principal percussionist for the UNT Wind Ensemble, acting principal timpanist with the Johnstown Orchestra, teaching fellow at the University of North Texas, private lessons instructor, percussion methods instructor, and drumline/front ensemble instructor.

Rich holds a MM Degree from the University of North Texas and a BS Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
