Ralph Hicks graduated in 1995 from Spring High School (Spring, TX). There he was fortunate enough to be a member of the Spring HS Band program that won two Texas 5A State Marching Competitions (1992 and 1994), one Bands of America Grand National Championship (1993), one Percussion Arts Society Call for Tapes (1992), and performed at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic (1995) all under the direction of Bill Watson. While at Spring HS he studied percussion with Gregg Rinehart and Rick Rodriguez, and a member of the 1995 Texas 5A All State Orchestra.

Ralph then received a full scholarship to teh University of Kentucky (Lexington, KY) to study Percussion under Professor James B. Campbell. While at UK, Ralph was a member of the UK wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, Saxton's Civil War Cornet Band, and featured soloist with the Lexington Brass Band. In 1996, Ralph took first place in the Percussive Arts Society International vibraphone solo competition. In 1997 he was a member of the Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps (Rosemont, IL), and was named a Yamaha Young Performing Arist.

After spending five years in Cypress Fairbanks ISD (Houston, TX) and three years in Spring ISD (Spring, TX), Ralph is now in his 9th year of Teaching, as a band director for The Woodlands High School (www.percussion-studio.net).

As owner of 'Rosewood Music' (www.rosewood-music.com), Ralph has composed/arranged for a variety of marching band and winter drumline programs in Texas, Kentucky, Wyoming, Georgia, and Illinois and has composed/arranged several percussion solos and ensembles for beginner to college level.

Ralph currently lives in the Klein area of Spring, TX with his wife Marcail, two children Brooklynn and William, and two dogs Jackson and Carter.
