Paul Garretson has been playing drums professionally since the age of 14. He received his BA in Music Education at Southwest Texas State University and his Masters in Music Performance at the University of North Texas where he performed in the famed North Texas Lab Band.

While at North Texas, he performed with well-known artists such as Gladys Knight and the Pips, Sammy Davis Jr., Jim Nabors and the Smothers Brothers.

Paul also worked for three years in Nashville, TN as a freelance player and toured throughout the United States with contemporary Christian artist Bill Gaither and Farrell and Farrell.

Paul moved to Austin in 1990 and played with local artists as Tish Hinjosa, James Polk, Nobuko, Clay Blaker, Armin Marmalajo, Brain Barber Trio, Mr. Fabulous. The Groove Machine, and Danny Britt. He was also active as an orchestral player performing with the Austin Choral Society and the Austin Symphony Orchestra.

Paul moved back to Nashville in the summer of 2008 and established himself there as a performer and educator. Paul is currently teaching drumset and percussion as an adjunct professor at Middle Tennessee State University and performing with Brain Bandas of Love and Theft, Karl Wingruber and Music City Swing, and is still freelancing in the Nashville Area.
