Nathan Sundberg is currently the Assistant Band Director/Percussion Coordinator at Lone Star High School in Frisco, TX. His responsibilities include writing/arranging for the drumline, teaching the percussion class, teaching the Concert Percussion Ensemble, and team-teaching the band classes at Stafford Middle School. He holds the Bachelor of Music Education Degree (Cum Laude) from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA where he studied percussion extensively under the direction of Mr. Kenneth Green.
Nathan was a founding member of the WGI indoor percussion group Metro Alliance based out of Dallas/Ft. Worth (2003, 2005). He served as Section Leader in both the 2003 and 2005 seasons. During his tenure at Northwestern State University he served as the Principal Percussionist of the Wind Symphony and the Drumline Captain. He has performed with the Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra, the Rapides Symphony Orchestra, the Marshall Symphony Orchestra and the NSU Jazz Combo.
His Drum Corps International experience began with The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps (2005, 2006) where he helped to secure the 2006 DCI World Championship as a featured snare soloist at the end of the “Machine” production. In 2008, he became a member of The Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps (Snare Line) helping to secure the 2008 DCI World Championship and the Fred Sanford High Percussion Award under the direction of Paul Rennick. Nathan holds professional memberships in the Texas Music Educators Association and the Percussive Arts Society. He is an active clinician/adjudicator in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
He resides in Frisco, TX with his loving and supportive wife, Morgan.
