Matthew Waldron is originally from the Soutwest Virginia, Northeast Tennessee area. After a brief stint at Virginia Tech, Matthew transferred to East Tennessee State University to begin work on a degree in Instrumental Music Education. While pursuing this degree Matthew furthered his percusson studies under the direction of Dr. Rande Sanderbeck. In addition to his course work, Matthew stayed busy by being involved in numerous ensembles at ETSU where he assisted and performed in the ETSU Marching Percussion Ensemble who was awarded the Fred Sanford Award at PASIC 2005. He also taught private lessons and assisted many local band directors with the direction of their percussion sections. Matthew served as Treasurer, Vice-President, and President of the Percussion Soceity at ETSU and was a member of the Northeast Tennessee Chapter of PAS.

This past summer after earning his degree from ETSU and getting married, Matthew joined on with the DoubleStop Percussion team and relocated to the Birmingham area. He is currently enjoying being in Alabama and his new position with DoubleStop, and is excited to have the opportunity to work with musicians and students in order to further the instrumental arts in the Birmingham area.
