Kyle McDonald graduated from the University of Northern Colorado
in 2009. While attending UNC he studied
with Gray Barrier and Jim White. He is a
licensed teacher in Colorado and Texas.
While attending UNC, Kyle performed with the Wind Ensemble,
Symphonic Band, Pride of the Rockies Marching Band, Jazz Lab 4, Jazz Combo 4
and with the Low Brass Studio at the International Tuba and Euphonium
Conference.
As a teacher, Kyle has won a marching championship, and won best
drumline at regionals several times. His
students have made All-State Band, All-State Orchestra and All-State Jazz Band
as well as the Texas Solo and Ensemble State competition. His students have gone on to be successful
music majors at both Northern Colorado and Colorado State University.
In 2009, Kyle accepted the Assistant Band director job at
Childress High school in Childress, Texas.
He started a high school jazz band, high school percussion ensemble and
a jr. high percussion ensemble. His jr.
high percussion ensemble took 3rd place at the Conveyance Percussion Festival
in Dallas. He was promoted to the head director in 2010. While at Childress his
bands earned several superior ratings including the first sweepstakes rating in
4 years. Mr. McDonald brought in guest
conductors, solo artists and commissioned a chart for the high school jazz
band.
Kyle is now the head director at Panhandle High School in
Panhandle, Texas. Mr. McDonald's bands
continue to earn superior ratings including straight ones in marching band,
concert and sight reading contest with both the high school and the jr. high.
Kyle performs regularly with his band Atteberry Station all over
the Texas Panhandle, and Oklahoma area.
Kyle is an in demand clinician helping several drumlines and
percussion sections throughout the panhandle area. He is a proud to endorser of Innovative
Percussion. He currently lives with his
beautiful wife Heather and their 1 year old son Jaxon.
