John Allnutt has been teaching percussion in Allen, Texas since 2008. He is an active educator and performer in the north Dallas area and is experienced in many areas of percussion including jazz, concert, marching, and world music.
John works with a variety of students ranging from fourth grade through high school out of his home studio in Allen. Additionally, he serves as a percussion consultant at Allen High School and as batterie technician at J.J. Pearce HS in Richardson, Texas.
John earned his Bachelor’s degree in percussion performance under the distinguished professor James Campbell at the University of Kentucky. Throughout his undergraduate education, he was a member of the prestigious Cavalier Drum and Bugle Corps in ‘03, ‘04, and ‘06 when they received two DCI world championships. He recently completed his Master's in Music Education at Southern Methodist University while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. John is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society.
John’s students have many opportunities to perform locally from farmer’s markets and local businesses to places in need of musical cheer such as senior citizen centers.
John resides in Allen with his wife Laura and dog Sam..
