Joe Itkor is currently the battery arranger for the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps. A high school band director for more than two decades, he has performed with and instructed some of the country's most elite marching units. His performance credits over the past 30 years include the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, Threshold Winter Guard, and several DCA Senior Drum and Bugle corps including The Reading Buccaneers, The Bushwackers and Fusion Core. Joe served several years as a music arranger for the Bushwackers in the mid to late 2000s. In 2010, He was the Program Coordinator for Fusion Core as they won the DCA Class A World Championship. He then spent two years as a Design Coordinator for the White Sabers.
Joe spent 23 years as a music judge for the National Judges Association and Tournament of Bands. He currently is both a music and visual judge for Cavalcade of Bands and U.S. Bands. Additionally, he spent 6 years as a judge for Drum Corps Associates. His instructional experiences include more than 50 high school bands and drum corps from throughout the United States and Europe. He has been the percussion caption head at New Providence High School in NJ for the past 13 years.
Joe has a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from West Chester University and a Master’s degree in School Administration from Montclair State University. He currently teaches wind ensemble and AP Music Theory at Arts High School, a magnet school for the arts in Newark, NJ. He is a highly respected clinician and is endorsed by Innovative Percussion. Joe currently resides in Hackettstown, NJ with his wife, two beautiful daughters and four crazy cats.
