Jason Kurkimilis a native of Jackson Tennessee began his musical journey at a very early age. Having a father who was a drummer, it didn't take long for an interest in the drums to develop. At age five he was given his first drum set. From then on he would constantly be found practicing to Aerosmith, The Beatles, Chicago, Huey Lewis & The News and countless others. After a brief pause during middle school years of playing clarinet in the marching band, he continued his pursuit of the drums by collecting and experimenting with various styles of music.
After high school Jason began playing in bands as well as working at a local music store in Jackson. There he was able to learn the process of the music industry. During that time frame he was a part of many bands in the local area musical styles ranging from reggae to funk, rock to blues, country to bluegrass and at times a little jazz. He would also teach drum lessons at the music store to beginner and intermediate players. It did not take long until has was introduced to the studio scene, in which he had the opportunity to play on several local albums as well as work with legendary producer Norbert Putnam.
In January of 2008, Jason moved to Murfreesboro, TN where he still resides to be closer to one of the best musical scenes in the country, Nashville. Within a few months his move had the landed a gig playing for Nashville song writer Alexis Dalman. After several months of touring and recording with her he joined a group called Reverb Control which was a rock/reggae band that had played around the middle Tennessee area.
In April of 2009, Stoney Creek Recording Artist Ash Bowers contacted him to audition. It just so happened that they had come from the same town of Jackson, TN. Shortly after his audition, Ash decided to hire him full time. Jason has been fortunate to tour with Ash and play with acts such as Andy Griggs, Rhett Akins, Eric Church and Jason Aldean. You can see Jason play with Ash Bowers on Ash's debut single "Stuck," on CMT or on GAC TV networks.
