Jamie Haffner is the Assistant Band Director and Percussion Specialist in the School District of Washington in Washington, Missouri. Jamie instructs the Washington High School drumline, indoor drumline, and percussion ensemble as well as all middle school and high school percussion classes. Prior to her appointment in Washington, Jamie taught at many renowned programs in the Middle Tennessee area including Middle Tennessee State University, Father Ryan High School, Mount Juliet High School, and Stewarts Creek High School. Jamie is also active in DCI as the battery supervisor at Music City Drum and Bugle Corps and as a member of the Percussive Arts Society Marching Percussion Committee. She recently published two articles in the Percussive Arts Society Journal Percussive Notes. Additionally, in January 2016 Jamie was invited by the Groove Warehouse to teach the Young Music Society Summer School in Canberra, Australia.
As a performer, Jamie marched with the Crossmen (San Antonio, TX) and Colts (Dubuque, IA), both World Class Drum Corps. Jamie has also participated in Winter Guard International with Gateway Indoor (St. Louis, MO) and performed as a part of the Kansas City Chiefs Rumble Drumline. She has also performed with the Saint Joseph Symphony (Saint Joseph, MO) and with Carinne Carpenter in the acoustic duo, "Scrap Cat."
Jamie completed her M.M. in Percussion Performance as a graduate teaching assistant at Middle Tennessee State University. At MTSU, Jamie studied under Professor Lalo Davila, Julie Davila, Derrek Phillips, and Matt Jordan. Jamie received her B.M.E. degree from Missouri Western State University and studied under Dr. Dennis Rogers, Dr. Tracy Thomas, Doug Auwarter, and Dr. Greg Haynes.
