Jaime Rodríguez, originally from Puerto Rico, began his musical journey at the young age of five, inspired by family members such as Ramoncito Rodríguez, renowned as the director of the acclaimed trio "Los Andinos." Over the years, Jaime has distinguished himself through numerous achievements.
He began his formal music education at the age of seven, attending prestigious institutions like the First Baptist Church of Carolina, the Carolina School of the Arts, the Ernesto Ramos Antonini Free School of Music, the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and the Interamerican University of PR were he did his BA in music performance. His accomplishments include a variety of honors, such as the Carolina Citizenship Medal, high academic and musical distinctions, recognition through various medals and awards including summa cum laude and the highest music grade of the department in 2019.
Jaime’s performance repertoire is impressively diverse, encompassing appearances with the Free School of Music Symphony Orchestra, worship bands, the Charles Washington Symphony Orchestra, jazz ensembles, cover bands, wedding bands, and other musical projects. Highlights include his participation in productions like "Cuatro," "Contratiempo," "La Revoltosa," as well as acclaimed Broadway shows like "Rent", "Once on This Island", "42nd Street", “In the heights”, “Six” and the world premier of “on your feet” - The story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan - in Spanish. Also, Jaime was involved in the second national tour of "On Your Feet". His contributions have also extended to prestigious events such as the Latin Music Celebration, the Latino Festival at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC; The bomba and plena festival in Tampa, The Puerto Rican Festival in Manassas, The Reston Town Center Festival, Events at The
Renegade, VA; Live worship at FCF Church, Cherry Blossom festival at Washington, DC; Commercial recording for “ganamos.com” (Lawyers company), viva la fiesta at Six Flags with Sebastian Natal Candombe Fusion, performance accompanying Pedro Arroyo, among others.
Throughout his career, Jaime has collaborated with renowned artists like Eddie Palmieri, José Febres, Danny Rivera, and Adlan Cruz, among others. Notable appearances include jam sessions with Miguel Zenón and performances alongside members of the Miami Sound Machine.
Jaime has toured nationally with prominent percussionists like Manny Marquez, who performs with Pedro Martínez and Camila Cabello. Significant mentors in Jaime's journey include Pedro Rivera Toledo, Ricardo Pons, Diana Valdés, Ramón Sánchez, David Rivera, and others.
Currently, Jaime is part of the 7th Street Band, a salsa orchestra directed by Max Rosado; he was also set to tour with JChris in March 2025 to Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago. This tour was with the AMA (American Music Abroad), sponsored by the U.S. federal government. Additionally, Jaime worked on a production of the musical "In the Heights" from February to May 2025 at The Signature Theater in Arlington, VA. He is also actively involved with Kadencia, a Puerto Rican music group, with whom he participated in the bomba and plena festival in Tampa. La Mafia del Guaguancó, directed by Edwin Ortiz. Jonatán Acosta who was the first Venezuelan to sing the US hymn at the NBA. Recently, Jaime has embarked a short tour with Max Rosado to Tokyo Japan were he played at Havana 1950 and at a salsa festival at Ueno Park.
In the field of recordings, Jaime’s contributions have left an indelible mark, with standout works such as "No estás aquí" by Tercera Entrada, "The Lowlands of Holland & Till We Meet Again (Reel)" by Radharc and “Sonic Horizon” by Son Horizonte. Coming out on October 6th, “Sabor a Mentira” by Leonardo Garcia. It’s worth noting that Jaime is working to expand his list of credits.
