Mason Hill is a freelance percussion educator based out of North Mississippi. Mason is currently the percussion caption head at the Memphis Blues Drum and Bugle Corps, snare tech for Atlanta Quest, and is on percussion staff at Hernando High School. He has also taught at Music City Drum and Bugle Corps.
During his time at Hernando High School, the marching band won the Mississippi 6A State Championship in 2019 and the 7A State Championship in 2023. The marching band has also been a finalist at the BOA Alabama, Memphis, and St. Louis Regionals. The Hernando High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble is a 2023 WGI open class finalist, 2021 and 2022 Mississippi Indoor Association A class champion, 2023 MIA open class champion, and 2024 MIA world class champion.
Mason has also been very active in the marching arts as a performer. He was a snare drummer for Atlanta Quest in 2017 as well as 2019-2021. In 2019, he also marched snare for the Santa Clara Vanguard. During his time with Santa Clara Vanguard, he received a Fred Sanford Award for Best Percussion Performance. In 2023, Mason began performing with the Memphis Grizzlies’ “Grizzline”.
Mason currently lives in Hernando, Mississippi, with his wife Tenisha.
