Born and raised in West Central Indiana, David Mahurin grew up immersed in country music. David received his very first drumset for Christmas when he was only five years old. His parents bought a rolled steel drum set from K-Mart called "Black Magic." Little did they what they had started.

Long days and nights of hearing pounding on just about everything lead to David's first gigs at age eleven. Some of David's first gigs included playing music on Monday nights at several different local nursing homes. On any given night he might make a total of $5.00.

As time went by, David had the opportunity to start playing in country music groups around the area. This time gigs included the local halls and clubs. Throughout junior high and high school David escalated to playing local bars and clubs with better bands and better musicians. Shortly after graduating high school David formed a band with a roommate of his and the "Sons of the South" were born. To this day "Sons of the South" are one of the best recognized groups in the Indiana and Illinois area.

David was very lucky to have this opportunity to travel the United States with several different bands, David had the chance to play on Carnival cruise lines "Victory" ship for a period of six months. Leaving from Miami Florida, not touring Mexico, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Porto Rico, St. Maarteen and St. Thomas.

On February 26,2008, David played his first 'Broadway' gig in Nashville, TN. Playing anywhere from 5-12 times a week in downtown Nashville, and shortly after he came to town helped him pay the bills and become established in music city. A little less than two months into living in Nashville, David was offered the chance to travel to Kansas with Jerrod Niemann to fill in some dates and was offered the full time position shortly there after.

May 28, 2008, David played his first event at the historic Ryman Auditorium. The play bill included Jerrod Niemann, Randy Houser and Jamie Johnson. Over the next few play months Jerrod Niemann signed a record contract with Artist records. Jerrod employed his whole band to record his debut album "Judge Jerrod and the Hung Jury." David recorded the master tracks for the entire album and it is slated to be released later this year.

Dates this year are to include several radio tour dates to promote the new single and album. The group is slated to tour with Brad Paisley and Darius Rucker for the rest of the summer.
