Cory Doran is currently a freelance percussionist and educator as well as a Front Ensemble instructor for the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and Matrix Indoor Marching Percussion Ensemble. Cory received his Masters degree (2011) in Music Performance from Texas A&M University Commerce under the instruction of Dr. Brian Zator and his Undergraduate degree (2009) in Music Performance from Youngstown State University under the instruction of Dr. Glenn Schaft.
Formerly the Percussion Director at Hilliard Bradley High School in Hilliard, Ohio, Cory has instructed throughout northeast Ohio, northeast Texas, and Pittsburgh as a front ensemble specialist as well as concert percussion and drum set clinician. As a teacher, Cory has made a name for himself as a front ensemble instructor for Matrix Indoor Marching Percussion Ensemble (2009- present), the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (2015- present), and Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps (2009-2011).
In addition to his involvement in education, Cory is also a freelance percussionist and composer/arranger. He has written for Hilliard Bradley, St. John’s Jesuit High School, Revalation Indoor Marching percussion Ensemble, Amhurst High School Indoor Percussion (2015), Impulse Indoor Percussion (2015), Texas A&M University- Commerce marching percussion section, and Grove City High School front ensemble. Performing groups include the Columbus top 40 band The Popbillies, Country band, Union Rose, and Tangent Impact Percussion Project.
