Harker Heights High School, Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps
Brandon Blankenstein is the Assistant Band Director and Percussion Director at Harker Heights High School in Harker Heights, TX. His duties include coordinating the visual caption for the Red Brigade Band, Concert 1 Band, Drumline, and the percussionists in the HHHS feeder system 6-12.
Mr. Blankenstein holds a degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin(2017). In his time in Martin he was a member of the Percussion Ensemble, World Percussion Ensemble, Marching Band, Contemporary Music Group, Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the ARC Percussion Trio.
His experiences with these groups include: Travel Study to Pernambuco, Brazil, clinic/performance tour with ARC Percussion Trio, World Percussion tours, and Percussion Ensemble tours.
His professors at UTM include: Dr. Julie Hill, Dr. Joshua Smith, Dr. Dan Piccolo, and Dr. Dan Heagney.
Brandon’s marching experience includes Music City Mystique (2016), Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps (2013), Clarksville Audio Theater (now Audio Theater) (2015), and Music City Drum and Bugle Corps (2015/2016). He also spent a summer on Bass staff at MCDC (2017) and will be with Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps in 2019.
Brandon is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Percussion Arts Society, and proudly endorses Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets.
