Ben Sims was born and raised in Gillsville, Georgia. Ben began playing music at the young age of 7. Two years later, at the age of 9, Ben was playing his first live show. He taught himself how to play drumset from an early age and joined the Middle School Band in the 6th grade to learn the fundamentals of music. Ben stayed in the music program throughout High School and during that time played with numerous Rock and Metal Acts around the area. In 2008, Ben auditioned for Country/ Southern Rock Artist Brantley Gilbert and was hired to be his full time touring and recording drummer. Ben has now become a staple in the hard rock sound that backs Brantley ever night on the road. After three years of heavy touring throughout the Southeast, Brantley signed a record deal with Big Machine Label Group | Valory Music Co. Imprint. Their Valory Music Co. debut album “Halfway to Heaven: Deluxe Edition”, which includes Sims on drums, will be released Worldwide September 13, 2011
