Andy Salmon is a 1998 graduate of the University of Kentucky in
Lexington, Kentucky, where he received his bachelor’s degree in music
education. He has been blessed to study
with some of the greatest percussion teachers in the world including James
Campbell, Dan Moore, Michael Gould, Dick Sisto, Erik Johnson, Brian Mason,
Ralph Hardimon, Lou Boldrighini, Brian Callahan, Lamar Burkhalter and Gregg
Rinehart. Mr. Salmon is in his 16th year
as Percussion Director at the Woodlands High School and instructs the
percussion classes at McCullough Junior High School.
During his tenure at the Woodlands High School, the marching band
has been a consistent Bands of America Grand National and Regional Finalist and
was named the 2013 BOA Grand National Champion.
The wind ensemble has performed in 2003 and 2012 at the Mid-West Band
and Orchestra clinic where he was featured as a performer on xylophone and drum
set. Mr. Salmon was a member of the DCI
World Champion Cavaliers drum and bugle corps in 1995-1996. He was also a member of the Blue Knights drum
and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Salmon is currently a free-lance performer on drum set and
percussion in the Houston area performing with the band Clouseaux and as a
drummer for the Woodlands Church. He is
an educational endorser for Innovative Percussion and Evans drum heads. Mr. Salmon currently resides in the
Woodlands, Texas with his wife, Claire and 2 year old son, Caden.
