David Brooks is the Director of Bands and Music Department Chairmen at Raymond Park Middle School in Indianapolis, Indiana 2008 - Current. Prior to this position, he served as Percussion Director and Assistant Director of Bands at Warren Central High School (Warren Township) in Indianapolis, Indiana 1992 - 2008. His concert bands have earned consecutive Division 1 Superior Gold Ratings for 16 years at the High School level, and 6 years at the Middle School level at ISSMA Organizational Competitions.
Mr. Brooks Percussion Ensembles have earned numerous awards in competitions with Winter Guard International, Indiana Percussion Association, and Indiana State School Music Association. Most notably, the 2006 Warren Central Indoor Percussion Ensemble was the IPA State Champion, and. They have consistently placed in the top 5 in IPA State Finals PSCO 2003 - 2008. They have consistently been in IPA State Finals since 1999 -2008.
Mr. Brooks marched Drum Corps for 2 seasons: 1983‚ 27th Lancers Quads Line, (Revere, MA), and 1981 - Guardsmen Snare Line, (Schaumburg Hoffman Estates, IL).
Mr. Brooks earned a Bachelor in Music Education from Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana) 1986, where he studied Percussion with Dr. Erwin Mueller, and Richard Paul, He studied privately with Danny Paul at the Paul-Mueller Percussion Studio in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He earned a Masters in Music from Morehead State University (Morehead, Kentucky) 1990. At Morehead, he studied Band, Conducting and Percussion with, Dr. Richard Miles, Dr. Larry Blocher, Dr. Earl Louder, and Frank Oddis.
Mr. Brooks also taught at Georgetown High School (Georgetown, TX) for 4 years, and Eastbrook High School (Marion, Indiana) for 1 year.
David is a member of Indiana Music Educators Association, Indiana Band Masters Association, The Percussive Arts Society, Indiana State Teachers Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and had associations with Innovative Percussion, and ProMark Sticks.
He has served as an adjudicator for Indiana State School Music Association for over 20 years, Central States Judges Association – Percussion since 2011. He did DCI Percussion Trialing in 2014, and WGI Percussion Judges Academy in 2015.
Mr. Brooks resides in Greenwood, Indiana. He has been married for 24 years and has 3 kids.
