Brian Crist is a San Diego native, working with various programs throughout the greater San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles and Inland Empire. He has had the privilege of working with several independent programs throughout his teaching career: Orange County Independent, Broken City Percussion, Gold, Academy & Pacific Crest Drum & Bugle Corps.
Brian began his musical endeavors at the age of 4 studying violin - continuing on with strings throughout his livelihood, he began percussion and horn studies at the age of 13. Playing with the San Diego Young Artists Symphony Orchestra for numerous years under the direction of Louis Campiglia, he has served as concert master of San Diego All County & State performing ensembles. Becoming a member of San Diego Alternative Percussion Ensemble in it's premiere years of 2005 & 2006, he marched tenors the first year and joined the front ensemble his last. Brian is an alumni member of The Academy Drum & Bugle Corps front ensemble from 2007 through 2009 under the direction of Mark Richardson & Glen Crosby Caption Head. Later, he concluded his marching experience with RCC winter percussion, as a front ensemble member from 2008 through 2010 under the direction of Sean Vega & Jim Wunderlich Caption Head.
Brian has had the privilege in working with many wonderful, influential musicians and educators: Andrea Venet, Jack Mizutani, Chris Retschulte, Glen Crosby, Ralph Hardimon, Thom Hannum, Pete Sapadin, Erasmo Rodriguez, Ike Jackson, Brian Dinkel, Jim Wunderlich, & Sean Vega.
Currently, he is working with Westview and Rancho Buena Vista High School in San Diego, applying to PA school and is proud artist/endorser with Innovative Percussion, Inc.
