Quey Percussion Duo has received international acclaim with performances described as “duo playing of the highest degree.” Their mission is to generate new works for percussion while also bringing standard repertoire to a broad audience. The duo’s vastly varied repertoire includes standard percussion literature, classic marimba works, contemporary art music, jazz transcriptions, world music, and even speech songs. Quey Percussion Duo finished 3rd at the 2004 Universal Marimba Duo Competition in Sint-Truiden, Belgium and were the last American duo to remain in the competition. Some of their most recent projects include a new CD entitled “In the History of Man,” which features new works commissioned by the duo, an East Coast concert tour, a Canada concert tour, a residency at the Performing Arts Institute summer music festival, a CD recording for HoneyRock Publications, performances at the Simsbury Chamber Music Festival and the River Crossings Chamber Music Festival, an annual composition contest, a parallel-media collaboration at the New Britain Museum of American Art, and commission projects with renowned composers Stuart Saunders Smith, David Macbride, Dave Hollinden, and Aleandro Vinao. QPD is endorsed by Sabian Cymbals, Innovative Percussion, and HoneyRock publications.
