Jacob Kight (b. 1992) is currently pursuing a Doctor of Music degree in Percussion Performance at the Florida State University where he serves as a graduate assistant. He is a founding member of the Patterns Quartet and performs regularly with the Florida State Percussion Ensemble, University Symphony Orchestra, and University Wind Orchestra. Currently, Jacob is the principal percussionist of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and plays with Sinfonia Gulf Coast in Destin, FL.

In addition to Jacob’s concentration in solo performance, chamber music, and orchestral playing, he is also well-versed in hand drumming and accompanies classes at the nationally-acclaimed FSU School of Dance. As an educator, he teaches applied lessons and classes at every level (grade school to graduate students) and has worked with many influential educators in the percussion field, including Jeff Moore, Kirk Gay, Dr. Thad Anderson, and Dr. John W. Parks IV.

With a building interest in recording technology, Jacob spends time recording and producing audio and video recordings for students and professionals around the Tallahassee area. Many of his projects have been recorded and released professionally on Flying Horse Records, Garnet House Productions, and Ravello Records. Several of these opportunities have resulted in presentations at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, PAS Days of Percussion, and the McCormick Marimba Festival. He also spends his free time building handcrafted cajons and percussion accessories with his father under the name JKight Percussion.

Jacob holds a Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance from the Florida State University and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Central Florida. He is a proud Innovative Percussion artist and endorser.
