The University of Massachusetts, The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps
Andrew Barlow is a freelance percussionist and educator from Allentown, PA. Currently he is on the percussion staff of The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps and instructs several high school programs in the Allentown and Philadelphia area. Andrew serves as percussion instructor, tour manager, and the Development Associate for the Cadets Drum & Bugle and Youth Education in the Arts.
Andrew pursed a double Masters degree in Percussion Performance and Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While at UMass he instructed the UMass Minuteman Marching Band, Marimba Ensembles, the MASS Marimba Band, and the Percussion Ensemble. He also holds Bachelor degrees in Music Education and Percussion Performance from Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, North Carolina.
During his career, Barlow has studied with Thom Hannum, Dr. Brian Tinkle, Colin McNutt, Tom Aungst, Ian Hale, Ayano Kataoka, Michael Moore, and Tony Del Rivero.
Barlow's drum corps marching career includes performing with The Cadets in 2007, Carolina Crown in 2005 and 2006, Magic of Orlando in 2004. He was also a member of Music City Mystique in 2008. On the collegiate level Barlow has performed with the UMass University Orchestra, the UMass Marimba band, the UMass Advanced Percussion Ensemble, The Mars Hill College Wind Ensemble, The Mars Hill College Percussion Ensemble, and the Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra.
Andrew is a member of the Percussive Arts Society and an educational artist for Innovative Percussion Inc. and Pearl/Adams Corporation. Andrew currently resides in Allentown, PA with his wife Melissa.
