Pomona High School
Alex Entin grew up playing the piano and participated in marching, concert and orchestral ensembles all through high school and college. He finished his Music Education Degree at the University of Northern Colorado under the instruction of Gray Barrier Professor of Percussion, Jim White Professor of Jazz Studies and Graduate Students Ben Waters and Jason Kihle.
Alex gained his love for the pageantry arts while attending Pomona High School and performing with their marching and concert ensembles. He went on to perform with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in summer seasons as well as the Blue Knights Percussion ensemble in the winter seasons. After aging out of the Blue Knights, he started working with the winter group. This helped Alex grow to become the Battery Caption Head and Arranger for the Blue Knights Winter Percussion Ensemble.
In Spring 2005, Alex started teaching the Loveland High School percussion section of the marching band along side David Killinger, Derek Boughey, Chris Temple, Shea Curtis, Libby Cihwski and many others. He proudly student taught there with band directors Matthew Arau and Aaron Vogel.
In 2007, Alex aged out with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps on snare, and was fortunate enough to be asked to be a snare tech in 2008 under the dedicated and talented percussion staff led by Jim Cassella, Jim Ancona and many others. Alex has continued to help out since then and thanks everybody involved with The Cavaliers for these amazing opportunities.
Alex took on the percussion caption head position at Pomona High School in Colorado in the Summer of 2011, he plans to do everything he can to guide the success of the program in the fall and winter seasons!
Alex currently lives in Broomfield, CO with his loving wife Savannah who teaches elementary music in Arvada, CO.
